I'm hoping someone can help with doing away with the save game limit for each mission.

I'm only on the first mission and like to save frequently so I can try different things. I understand the principle of the save game cap but it's not how I want to play the game.

I've searched and there is another thread that suggests a "mass patch" resolves this issue http://www.gog.com/forum/hitman_series/hitman_2_silent_assassin_current_version but I can't find the download link. Also, being a bit of a technophobe, I'd rather not just download files without having a fellow Gog'er to approve them.

Thanks

You're talking about Hitman 2 right?

If so, I think it's your lucky day. A fellow member made this for me: Hitman 2 Save Anywhere

I'm not sure if you need to put it into the game directory but that's what I did, it's possible it need to hook into the memory of hitman2.exe. Anyway, you start it then the game and then somewhere in the game, menu or in mission, you press F5 and then the game will think you have 1 save left all the time.

I never had any issues regarding the saves but apparently on one mission it started to crash like crazy but I tried to replay that mission without this mod/hack and it still occurred. Eventually it stopped and I managed to make progress.

Good luck!

Thank you - I'll try it tonight and if it works, will be back to heap a bunch of praise your way.

Hi - thanks again for your earlier reply. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me - I have win7 x64 so may be a OS issue? Anyway, it also created a process that, although it didn't use hardly any resource, would not close even after I tried to force it by manually ending the process. The only way to get rid of it was to reboot.

I'm not suggesting it's anything sinister but if your mate has time, he may like to check which OS it's compatible with.

Thanks again and please let me know if you're aware of another way.

Oh and finally, to test it, I went through the first mission as a shooter and quite enjoyed the carnage! :)

What the..that's not supposed to happen. It worked for me and I've Win7 64-bit. I'll try later today and see if there's anything else.

I recall him mentioning that he made it specifically to work with GOG's exe of hitman2.exe so if you have hitman 2 from anywhere else then that might be the reason.

To clarify: I open the .exe file and then the game. I can then still only save 7 times. Also, I do have the GOG version and it's in its vanilla state.

Thanks for not giving up on me!
Did you forget to press F5 at least once in-game? Also, to easier find out if it works start a new game, save 7 times right away so you won't have any left, if you can still save it works. The number on amount of saves left won't change, it didn't for me.

Ah- no, I didn't press F5. I'll give it a go tonight and get back to you.

Hi - I've tried it again and it still doesn't work. However, this time I didn't have any problems with the program hanging.

Does the exe file need to be in the HM2 game folder (which sits in C:/Games/GOG on my laptop)?

To clarify and please let me know if I'm doing something wrong;
- I opened the .exe file and a message popped up saying to hit F5 to enable save anywhere
- I started HM2 and started a new mission
- I pressed F5 and then saved x 7
- After that, it wouldn't allow further saves

This part I'm not so sure about but it's possible, I did it to avoid the issue in the first place in case it required it, if you haven't try it.

Hi, I am the creator of the program you are trying to use, Since you are on Win7 you may have to run the program as admin (by right clicking and clicking "Run As Administrator") to make it work correctly (even if you are logged on as admin already this is still sometimes needed), But if it still isn't working it may be GoG have changed something since i made this or maybe its just a problem with your system ? or maybe you have a virus scanner or system protector that is stopping my program from altering the games memory,
Anyway try what i said above and see how it goes, if it still isn't working i will look further into this or maybe come up with a patch you can use instead of this program so that this program is not needed.

I changed my virus scanner to "gaming mode" and ran the exe as an administrator and it works. Thank you so much.

Also, a big thank you to Nirth for helping and referring it to you. It's genuinely appreciated.
Oh, damn. I forgot about admin rights and virus scanner. Great that it now works for you, have fun! :)
Glad to hear it worked for you :), if you have anymore problems please let me know.

Also just to clarify you DO NOT NEED to have this in the game folder, it will work from any folder, i just find it useful to keep stuff like this in the game folder, But it will work from any folder (or atleast should)
