thanks

I'd like to know too.
The widescreen fixes by nemesis which can be found on pcgamingwiki or his site (ps2wide) are perfectly compatible with the GOG versions of Hitman (1-4), I have done multiple playthroughs with them with no problems.

download, unzip, they are password protected the passes are in his site, and copy paste them in the games directory (where the main .exe is) then edit the ini file there to add your resolution and other fixes.

Things to note for the widescreen fixes

HitmanC47 - Has a value to increase the draw distance (no fog) works fine in all levels except the ones in Columbia, I got a pretty good PC but the frames in those levels with the fix go to single digits, decrease the value or use default values.

HItman2SA - for the widescreen to work on the gog version, you have to run upx,exe which is included in the zipfile (dont worry its safe) the .exe needs to be uncompress for the fix to work (its still DRM-Free and the same game as before. there is also crash when you try to climb the tower in "Park Meeting" You don't have to do so, in fact its not a good way to complete the mission, but good to know just in case.

HitmanContracts- Nothing of note.

Hitman Blood Money - Nothing of note.

And another thing:

CAP THE FPS!!!
Use rivatuner or your program of choice, Hitman 1 has physics bug that break the game if played at fps higher than 100+.
HItman 2 will not start at all at high FPS
Contracts is mostly fine but cap it as well just in case
Blood Money has physics problems as well and you can get stuck in the terrain in some levels.

In general its good practice for old games not to have them run with 200fps

Cap it to 60 and you'll be fine.

Hope I helped out. Have fun playing!

Good guide!

I if you have problems, you should download for the Hitman Codename 47 ENB DirectX8 to DirectX9 convertor. Regular version of the widescreen fix don't work with my PC.

Also if you running the the Hitman Blood Money with Galaxy you should disable the in-game Galaxy features to avoid crashes.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if you could help me out. I installed the first three games on my "new" laptop for the first time to finally replay them after quite a few years, and am having issues with all of them. They all suffer from a regular lag/freeze every 10 or so seconds (as well as framerate drops in dense environments).

I tried several tweaks and fixes, including capping fps, etc. The issue is there regardless of whether I use the widescreen fixes or not (which I want to).

Now, the only thing that seems to make the problem disappear in all games is switching the rendering from D3D to OpenGL. However, this comes with its own set of issues in each game. Contracts loses all the graphics effects and the cutscenes are broken, SA apparently has quite the graphic glitches of its own with OGL, and I think in C47 I wasn´t able to run the game in widescreen after switching.

Based on one guide I found on Steam (https://steamcommunity.com/app/247430/discussions/0/2282708683263007436), there is a chance that Contracts won´t use a dedicated GPU when playing on laptop and using D3D8 mode (which might be my case - I have an Nvidia and Intel on my laptop). As part of the solution, the guide suggests applying the widescreen fix and then a d3d8 to d3d9 wrapper. I tried using the wrapper and indeed it solved the lag issue, but because it replaces the d3d8.dll file provided by the widescreen fix, the fix doesn´t work.

I assume the problem might be the same with Silent Assassin and Codename 47. Have any of you experienced the same, and if so, could you guide me through on how to resolve the issue in a way that would allow me to get rid of the lags AND be able to use the widescreen fixes?

EDIT: I tried running MSI Afterburner to verify which GPU is being used (in Contracts), and it showed 0% usage of GPU1 (Nvidia) and 100% usage of GPU2 (Intel). So it indeed seems to be related to the GPUs (and in case you´re wondering, yes, I did specifiy the game to use Nvidia in the graphics control panel). Would disabling the onboard GPU be a solution as well?

Hello there many apologies for the late reply, I didn't really think I'd get many or really any replies so quick after posting this question/thread.

first to note here is thank you so very very much for all the information you've given me here haha there's really a whole lot there, yeah I think I came across nemesis while looking into all of this, do you know where the passwords are on the site? copy and paste, not drag and drop the files from the zipped folder file? which ini file I'm I editing and what I'm putting in the edit of that ini file? also my screen resolution 3840 x 2160 would/will that be too big of a size change to put it to?, also how to I change the screen size in that ini file? another thing to add here does this widescreen fix patch do anything to the quality and sharpness of the game graphically? as in does this widescreen fix help with definition (quality) of the picture?

HitmanC47 - good to note and take in all you have mentioned on this one, and I'll make sure to keep in mind the missions/levels in Columbia and post on here what I noticed on those levels

Hitman2SA - where do i find the upx,exe in the zipped folder file? and how to I use it in Hitman: SA in GOG's version of the game?

Hitman Contracts -

&

Hitman Blood money - does the exe or whatever it is I'm using to then run the game from, from the files on the zip folder work in the same manner on contracts and Blood money as they do on the first two?

once again thank you so freaking much for all this information and help you've given me here if I run into any problems or issues will it be alright of me to ask again for help?

thank you very much

The passwords are on a txt file inside the download itself.

copy/paste, drag and drop doesnt matter, as long as you place the files from inside the zip to the main directory of the games installation (where the main executable is)

the ini file you edit is the one inside the zip of each game, after you place it in the installation directory open it and change whatever you wish

Bigger resolutions will mean the HUD and UI will be smaller and harder to read unfortunately, try it and see if you need to lower it,

you change the resolution by just typing the values you want in the "width" "height" lines in the .ini file.

the widescreen fix will not improve the quality/sharpness of the games textures, as far as I know there are no mods for that.

The upx.exe and .bat is in the zip folder, RUN the .BAt file not the exe. it after you place it in the hitman2 directory.

I am not sure what you are asking with the last question, you download the widescreen fix for each game, inside they only have .dll files and an ini file (except hitman2 with also has the upx.exe), just place them in the installation directory and run the game from the .exe as you normally do.

Hay,

I am trienig to play Codename 47 with nemesis' Widescreen fix (i don't really Care about 16:9, but the Draw Distance would be pretty Sweet!).

When i Start The game, i only geh a brief Blackscreen and then an error, that the Game can't initialize direct3d.

It works if i use OpenGL or Glide OR if i use dgVoodoo for D3D, but then the Fix won't work.

Has anyone a solution to that?

Thanks in Advance!
Does anyone know how to make this wide screen fix work in opengl mode? PCGW mentions using DxWnd, but no real explaination. Also how do you get DSOAL/EAX to work, and I don't just mean on the first game. None of the games are detecting the proxy dll.
