A while ago I decided to go ahead and play through every Hitman game in the order they were released in. After beating Codename 47 I started playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, which ran fine on my Windows 7 laptop.

I recently built a new PC, and decided to run Windows 8 Professional 64bit on it due to Windows 8 getting the most support from Microsoft if there are any problems within the OS.

After installing Hitman 2, I noticed that the game would run just fine when playing in fullscreen mode, but once I turned on windowed mode (because I don't like to have 4:3 games stretched to 16:9), the game suddenly wouldn't load the intro animations with all the logos, which I could skip through by hitting Escape several time.

The kicker though is that the same thing happens when trying to start a new game. The intro cinematic doesn't appear to load properly, and I can't skip it by hitting the Escape key like I could before.

Is there a way to fix this issue?

Which resolution are you running at? If you are running it at 1920x1080 try to change to something lower.

Otherwise you can try this method: go to your install folder, find the file named Hitman2.ini and open it with Notepad. Before altering it, save an extra backup copy so you don't screw it up, then copy all this over what's already in there.

When I use those settings, launching hitman2.exe ends up doing the exact same thing as with my previous .ini settings, even when lowering the resolution to something like 1024×768.
