During the intro cinematic the voices stop between the two characters as they watch the surveillance tapes... Any idea how to fix this?

Edit: Can't hear Diana or 47 at all, during gameplay or cutscenes. I fixed it (but only temporarily, after restarting it bugs out again) by setting the "Number of Voices" to "3" (lowest value) but then I can't hear footsteps and other sounds... Anyone aware of a fix?

I'm running Windows 10 by the way.

Tried it on Windows 7 on another PC, exact same issue.
Fixed it. The problem occurs in Vista and in later operating systems. Barely found out about this on PCGamingWiki:

- PCGamingWiki audio settings ["May require DirectSound3D restoration software to restore proper sound functionality on Windows Vista and later. An AM3D "DieselPower" audio engine for the game is available here"]

I have a Realtek one and I downloaded "Realtek 3D SoundBack Beta 0.1" and ran it in Vista compatibility mode and just pressed "enable" for Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (it automatically detects your games and you can also add other games if need be).

(I also noticed some other games I've got installed that may be missing sound effects like KotOR 2, Rome: Total War and The Godfather.)

Anyway, dialogue is now working properly as are other sounds and sound effects (info, objective updates, equipping/unequipping weapons, breathing when looking through keyholes and scopes, footsteps on all surfaces, picking up ammo, and so on), so it's an essential improvement.

I couldn't find out anything about this on Google nor by browsing these forums or the Steam ones. I can't believe this hasn't happened to anyone else...

You are a LIFE SAVER for this.
I was having the exact same issue. Apparently me and you are the only ones with this issue lmao, very weird how nobody else said anything about it.
Again, THANK YOU so much for actually posting your solution even though nobody else commented or anything. I'm thinking this is actually the same issues alot of older games have when it comes to EAX drivers and why those options are always force disabled on newer OS.
