in graphics options "full scene antialiasing" is greyed out and remains so even if i set everything else to lowest.
... which results in a rather unpleasant pixelated game.

are there any ini files to edit or drivers to install or what's the problem here?

In the installation folder (Default C:\Program Files (x86)\GOGcom\Hitman 2) There should be an .ini file called hitman 2. In there you can set an Antialiasing option, it should go up to 8.

EDIT - Derp, thought the title said hitman 2. It may be the same for the first however, as they're both on the same engine.

Although this tread is really old, the only thing you´ll have to do is to force Antialaising in DriveControlPanel.
It works on both AMD and Nvidia Hardware!
