The issue reported here (steamcommunity dot com/app/1941110/discussions/0/3417682380510779011/) is fixed in the Steam version but persists in the GOG version of Higurashi Rei.

Just wanted to add I've experienced the same issue. The scene where Rika is talking to Hanyuu in the store shed will freeze just as described in the Steam page. This actually has a fix already but MangaGamer needs to implement it for the LInux version. Why is this taking so long?

I would post a link but I can't because the forum isn't letting me. It's the same one mentioned by the original poster.
