just bought HOMM2 and started it up to some beautiful sounding music. I then discovered that the sound starts to skip every 15 seconds or so. i'm playing this game on vista 32 bit using a x-fi sound card. anyone know how to correct this? thanks.

Make sure you don't have anything unnecessary running in the background like steam etc. If freeing up your cpu doesn't fix it then it may be an issue with your card, someone with an x-fi also seems to be having problems with sound popping in this thread:

You could try disabling your sound card from hardware device manager and seeing if your onboard sound plays it any better.
else open dosboxhomm2.conf
and play with prebuffer, blocksize and samplerates.
