Support tickets seem to get lost? I'm sorry, but that's an extremely lame excuse.

The support tickets get sucked up into a dark-matter nebula and get deposited in Greenland's glacial interior. Everyone knows this. Gosh! ;P
Well, If I dug around and around I could probably scrunge up the first four manuls, but, if memory serves they are really not that much different then one another, and don't really add much to the playing experience itself at all. I too would like all the manuals, but, since they are so similar I can live without and still be happy.
The big deal to me is that GOG finally has the complete Chronicles at all, I have waited so long for this day, that I forgive them their manual shortcut error. They just shouldn't have included all those links, and then hardly anybody would notice, and most who did (me being one) would just accept the one manual I believe (maybe not with the greatest happiness, but a shrug).
It does bite though, especially with the teasing links they gave us, but, I buy the games on GOG to play and in this case I am satisfied. The game is just as fun now as it was for me 10 years ago, a few extra paragraphs or pages missing manual information/story or no.

However I agree daventrygnome, if you write them a message, that is valid (as is yours) they should respond to you. But, as long as GOG still has great old games I can't get anywhere else DRM free and working great on modern systems I'm not going to stop giving them my bussiness because they don't answer a support question about manuls or some such similar issue. I mean, have you seen all the great games they have here? You know it is useless to resist my son. ;)

You're right.
But for me this is not a deal breaker.

Lame excuses or not, here is the only thing you're missing from the various copies of the manuals, anyway:

WARLORDS OF THE WASTELAND
Sir,

You say you are a historian - a noble pursuit.

I must admit I was surprised when I received your message. I was even more stunned that you know my secret. Although some details are missing, your account of my long life is quite thorough. Perhaps some day we can meet and you can explain how you accomplished such a task?

And yes, there is a hole in your records. My first reaction was to tear up your letter. That is a period of my life I would rather not conjure up again, but a few days later I realised if there is ever a lesson, or moral to be learned from my existence, it can be found in that dark time before I became the Immortal Hero.

Too often, beginnings are filled with pain and sorrow. My story is no exception. So, I've agreed to help you on one condition - leave nothing out, and change nothing, especially if it makes me look better. My story should be told as is, or not at all.

Tarnum
The Immortal Hero

CONQUEST OF THE UNDERWORLD
To Her Majesty Queen Allison Gryphonheart,

When I heard your request for a Knight to lead your troops into the Underworld, I assumed all of Erathia would have jumped for the opportunity to rescue the soul of the late King Gryphonheart, your father. Perhaps they were frightened off by the stories

Know this - I will not rest until I find your father's soul and return it to Paradise!

I have heard that you demand to accompany your troops to the Underworld, but this is not a wise decision. Who knows what kind of resistance I will meet at the gates to the Underworld? So, please leave the fighting to soldiers like myself, for Erathia needs you.

Your Humble Servant,
Sir Tarnum

MASTERS OF THE ELEMENTS
To His Majesty King Magnus of Bracada,

Allow me to be blunt. The world needs your help. If the situation were not so serious I would not ask for your help, but it is, and I am.

For ten thousand years, the Elemental Lords have been bound in their own realms by a truce that was forced upon them long ago. Now, they are free to do as they wish. Unfortunately, they plan to segregate the elements that were forced together during the creation of the world. I do not need to explain to you that this will bring about the destruction of the world.

I ask you to give me one of your Towers so I can lead a force into the Elemental Planes themselves to strike at the Elemental Lords before they bring their chaos to this world. The Golems, Nagas, and other creatures under your command are creatures of magic, and thus the only such beings capable of surviving in the Elemental Planes. With your help, perhaps I can stop this madness.

Sincerely,
Lord Tarnum

CLASH OF THE DRAGONS
To his Royal Majesty the Elf King of AvLee,

I agree the Spring Festival was marred by the absence of the Green and Gold Dragons. I have never known a good Dragon to break its word, so when you wrote that they promised to participate this year, I immediately knew something was wrong. Although I have spent most of my recent years among dragons, I must admit I do not know where they have gone.

I am grateful you realized the graveness of your situation, by lending me your forces. Dragons only break their promises if there is powerful evil loose upon the world. I thought I would begin my journey by finding the old Elven woman known as the Dragontalker. She has lived with the Dragons for longer than anyone. I will let you know what I learn.

Sincerely,
Tarnum Dragonfriend

REVOLT OF THE BEASTMASTERS
To the Kingdom of Erathia,

No longer will we wear your chains, work in your fields, and die in your mines. No longer will we bear the painful bite of your whips. No longer will we cower in fear!

We, the Mudlanders, recognize our freedom, and that all creatures are born with this right. Not even you, who have thrown shackles around the necks of thousands, deserve the disheartening murder of hope that is the life of a slave. Fear not our vengeance, Erathia, but do not underestimate us either. We are ready to fight for our freedom. Every last one of us is prepared to spill our blood. Are you prepared to do the same simply to recapture us?

We are the Mudlanders. We are free!

Tarnum

THE SWORD OF FROST
To Gelu of AvLee,

"Look with ultimate dread on the day when Armageddon's Blade and the Sword of Frost do meet..."

You know the words of this prophecy as well as I, Gelu. Can you not see that your quest to find the Sword of Frost endangers us all? Leave that mysterious blade lost as it has been for countless centuries. You already possess the most powerful sword in the world. What more do you need?

You must think your quest is for the benefit of us all, but you are misguided. Turn back now before you open a hornet's nest. Listen to me! I will not allow you to succeed, no matter the cost. Do not assume our friendship will restrain me.

If my pleading hasn't made an impact, perhaps this will.

"...for it will mean the end of the world and all who live on it!"

A Warning,
Tarnum Dragonfriend

Cepheus: (A bunch of Heroes goodness)
Thanks so much for posting all these, +1 big one for you! :D
Thanks Cepheus, I really appreciate it!

Regarding "lost support tickets" and the number of great games on GOG: I still think it's bad business practice to completely ignore a customer's inquiry, regardless of how trivial it might seem (and yes, in this case, I agree with you all 100% that the issue is trivial). But I was still expecting some kind of response, especially since I sent them an e-mail not once, but twice.

I'm just saying in the future when I'm looking for a classic game, I will defintiely check on Ebay and Amazon before searching here. I usually prefer to have my games on physical media anyway - that way you can be sure of what you're getting, and I'm technically proficient enough to get them running on my computer w/o any outside help.

You can probably infer that this was my first time using GOG. As you guys all know, finding all eight episodes of Heroes Chronicles at such a low price is rather difficult, so it seemed like a no-brainer to get them here. But this is not the case with most classic games. For example, Mastertronic recently released all 5 Heroes games with their expansions for $30 (GOG sells just Heroes 1-4 w/ expansions for $40); I can get all the King's Quest games for much cheaper than the $30 they're selling for here, etc. If the customer service had been better (existent), I would have gladly come back, but now I see no reason to spend my money here unless there's absolutely no other option.
Finally received an answer today:

"Sorry about the late reply, unfortunately your e-mail coincided with a couple of staff vacations and I couldn't get back to you sooner. The manual links were removed in an updated version of the installer, which is now available on our servers. The support links are still broken, however, although we won't be able to have this fixed before the end of this week. I apologize if this is an inconvenience."
I went ahead and scanned my Heroes Chronicles manuals that I found laying around. The manuals for Clash of the Dragons, Conquest of the Underworld and Masters of Elements can be downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/?n6zhcfzmd74k958.

Should also have the Warlords of the Wasteland manual but can't find it ATM. Will upload it once I manage to dig it up. Don't have The Final Chapters though. :(
