I bet you like the game to be in full screen mode, without the black bars in aspect ratio ruining it, the classic Heroes 3 that is gold!

Well here is one way to do it.

Now to fix the rest, you have to go inside the game to fix it. And it will automatically add it to your tweak settings. So once its done, just copy and paste tweaks settings into a notepad and its all fixed. Example i disabled this.

And this i found out by going about a little. But its perfect

Now the trick is this? How do you play in fullscreen without the black bars on the side?
This fixed it for me.

First you click away "Full screen mode" checkmark. Then click "Play" then go to "image" then click away "Keep Aspect Ratio" then close the window. Highlight "Full screen mode".

And there you go! Works perfectly!

Also you can make a Heroes 3 shortcut by pressing "Create HD.exe" incase you dont want to go into Heroes 3 settings all the time.

Wait what?

To keep aspect ratio you should properly set your video driver and game settings - resolution and if it present in settings - aspect ratio option. HD mod have that option. To make it authentic no one need to make those threads - that not first one.

And yes, of course authentic for that game - is 4:3 with black bars. To make this bars you dont need any mods.
Now we dont need to use HD mod if we have GL wrapper by Verok. Anyway both have option to keep aspect ratio. Because 4:3 in 4:3 always be better - proper aspect and less blured.

Its kinda pointless to play a game when it doesnt use the whole screen. I dont get why people like aspect ratio that limits the screen.

But yes i have set my graphic driver to scale automatically in game. But some games needs this setting to work for some reason. So doing it like this works great!

Already answered. For proper proportions and better graphics (not smoothed). To less artifact.

And better keep it 4:3. Yes, sometimes some mod\wrappers\widescreenfix do the job in proper way - fix UI proportions for already widescreen-supported games or something.
But usually even some fix labeled as widescreen fix dont work how they should. Even some from thirteenag dude (same artifacts appear as for stretching by video card - eg in GTA2).

Cant say about HD mod - i dont remember. GLwrapper'+mod 's from Verok depend on game. I try only one for Disciples (well and for Blood Omen) and game it strick with 4:3 windows. It add a properly proportioned background image to additional scrolls\windows (city\army widnows), and only wide is main map - and it is just zoomed out. It impossible to do it properly. it ok that it be zoomed out, just dont set too high resolution.

Maybe same for Heroes3HD mod? isnt it just zoomed out main map? Than it mean it WRONG widefix. And probable it impossible for heroes3 as well to make it REAL wide.

Anyway, you just set wide in HD and that all. Zoomed out still be better than stretched by video card - at least it not be blured\smoothed.

Graphicsborn kiddies never learn... Enjoy your distorted image with lost proportions if you personally like it. But do NOT confuse other people with your topic. Better go and purchase HD edition directly from the current IP holder. Oh, I forgot, they lost the source code for anything beyond RoE. :sarcastic:

People play in windowed mode all the time.

Stretching doesn't give you anything more by the way. You see exactly the same image as 4:3. Nothing extra. Only stretched. What is the point of that? Heroes 3HD mod does it right. hor+.

Of course battles and cities can't be changed, and that was OP's problem.

One question. Is it possible to make the gameplay pause til the music is over when entering battle?. I know some may find it odd why i want that? But just curious since it was in the original game. And i also cant get the intro cutscene to play either

I don't know. It sounds like those changes were introduced by HD mod. I don't use it.
