EDIT: nevermind, I should have made an HD executable and used that. :/

Hi all,

I've been trying to run the Horn of the Abyss mod under Wine (1.4.1) using the HD mod. When I try to launch it, it runs the vanilla mod, rather than the HD version. (800x600 resolution, etc)

Also while running the vanilla mod, the game crashes when I try to start a game. (after clicking "Single Scenario" in the main menu everything freezes)

Both the HD mod and Horn of the Abyss are the latest version AFAIK.

Any help? :P

If I remember correctly from when I used Linux: you have to use the HD launcher to make a new HD executable of the HotA exe and then start the game using that.

No worries, it took me a bit of messing around with stuff to find that out too. It must just be a problem with Wine that prevents the HD Launcher from properly applying it's modifications to other exes when run the normal way.

And hopefully using the HD mod will fix the crash problem too, since it has a bunch of fixes in it for that kind of thing.

I believe it did, I was able to start a single player game and play for 15 minutes.
I'm not sure if still valid... but maybe for other people who will look for answer how get it working on wine with all extensions: rogulski.it/blog/heroes-3-on-wine/
