Hi community.

I reinstalled Heroes of Might and Magic V. I have a new PC system now, my old rig rand Windows 7, HOMM 5 ran absolutely fine, including the 5.5 mod. After reinstalling it on my new rig (Windows 10, GTX 1060; AMD Ryzen 2400G), I encountered the following problems:

- I cannot skip the intros (logos + intro movie), neither by clicking with the mouse, nor by hitting ESC
- I cannot use my keyboard, none of the shortcuts (e.g. ESC to bring up the menu) work
- I cannot zoom in or out, using the mousewheel or PGup/PGdown keys
- I cannot tilt the camera
- in the fight scene in the main menu, the textures aren't properly loading, but when I exit a game and click on "Return to main menu", this is fixed

Everything else seems to work fine. I can click on things. I can pan the map by moving the mouse cursor to the edges of the screen.

What I tried already:
- disabling Windows Defender
- switching between full-screen and windowed mode
- deleting the intro + logo files; of course this "fixed" the unskippable logos/intro problem
- switching between camera modes (classic HOMM/normal)
- switching keyboards; on my wireless Logitech KB with included trackpad, the trackpad works, but the keys still don't
- installing the 5.5 mod and launching via he 64bit shortcut

EDIT: I also tried running it in compatibility mode (Windows 7) and as an administrator. I also disabled "Full-Screen Optimization" in the compatibility tab.

Nothing seems to work...

Please help me.

I'm having many of these same problems as well. However deleting the intro file video.vid just breaks app and it won't start. Am I deleting the wrong thing? I would like to at least be able to start the game without watching the entire intro every time.
The files you should delete are: intro.ogg, logo-nival.ogg and logo-ubi6.ogg

Had the same problem, I fixed the problem by copying input.cfg or input_a2.cfg (depends on windows 7/8/10)

to:

C:\Users\<my username>\Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Profiles\<my username>

from:

<Program Files (x86)>\GOG Galaxy\Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\profiles\default_profile

good luck!!
Try enabling/ disabling Microsoft OneDrive if you use it, and just let it update all the files. I guess its something with the config or profile files.

Just would like to say thank you, this worked for me! But somehow my default profile name had changed, so I had to paste it in several places, eventuelly did work!
