Ok, right to the case.
So, me and 2 friends have been playing HoMM 3 with HD Mod over the LAN. I was hosting a game and everything worked just fine for a long time. But a few days ago we encountered unusual problem. When I create "room" (so basically - host a game) others can see my game and join it but I CAN'T SEE THEM or start the game. I also can't see any messages from connected players or even 'system' that someone have joined.
So we tried with other person hosting the game. I can join the room but can't connect when the host loads a game. It shows "Error sending data".
Do you know what the problem might be?

First guess would be a firewall issue. I'd check that you are allowing both incoming and outgoing traffic on the required ports.

Yeah, we tried turning firewalls off but it didn't help. Still, before, when everything worked, our firewalls were on (of course with added exceptions).
And another thing - we tried launching HoMM without HD Mod. What happened was - when any player tried joining my room the game showed "Error connecting to that session. Try again?". Any ideas now? I'd be glad for any help.
Just to be clear - we are all in the same local network and our computers can see and access each other. And I didn't change any system or game setup between the last time multi worked and first time it didn't.
Which Operating System are you using? There are a few internet articles that talk about turning off UPNP to make HoMM3 work for LAN game e.g. http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/1853/t1685428-solution-homm3-lan-network-game-windows-7/ or if your computer has multiple network options make sure it's picking the right LAN connection first. Also this might help https://www.gog.com/forum/heroes_of_might_and_magic_series/homm3_and_tcp_ip_lan_problems

If you are confident that the network connectivity is in place between all machines then I'd be tempted to uninstall and reinstall if the other options don't work just in case something has become corrupted in the game settings or similar.

Ok, I made it! I managed to get HoMM3 multi over the LAN to work. In my case that's what I did:
1. Uninstalled HoMM3 Complete and HD Mod
2. Deleted all remaining key in the registry (with CCleaner)
3. Rebooted PC
4. Installed HoMM3 Complete
5. Installed HD Mod (newest of course)
6. Installed HotA 1.4.2 (newest version while writing this)
7. Run HotA via HD Launcher
After that everything was fixed without changing NIC (or firewall) settings - just the way when it stopped working. Hope that this may help someone in the future.
