If your computer can't locate the Heroes II folder on your computer, you have to manually locate it. Go to Edit>Options, and under Games scroll down to Heroes of Might and Magic II. Select Browse on the lower right hand of the window, find the Heroes II game folder, and choose the HEROES2W.exe file. NB: I am not sure if this works with the DOS version of the game, but luckily GoG.com also has the Windows version. The DOS version only supports multiplayer for two players anyway.

I tried it, but GameRanger is searching for Heroes2W , but there is only Hearoes of Might and Magic 2 GOLD.

I cant select his file, even if I rename it
It's weird that you can't rename it. Are you sure you're looking in the installation folder and not in the programs menu shortcut? Have you tried installing it outside the "Program Files" folder?

Are you and your friends on the same network? Did you try playing directly using the TCP/IP connection method?

Perhaps you mean "Launch Heroes of Might and Magic 2 GOLD" - This is only a Shortcut to the Executable file. Unless, of course, you manually renamed, moved, or accidentally deleted HEROES2W.exe. Otherwise ZFR is probably correct.

In the Version from GOG there is no Heroes2W , only Heroes".CFG / Heroes2 or Heroes of Might and Magic 2 GOLD.

Since the old version of HOMM 2 didnt work, I bought the one from GOG . So there is no TCP/IP.

All I want is playing this Game online with friends,. We tried Hamachi and game Ranger, but nothing is working.
Can you give a screenshot of the folder where the game is installed?

Also,
Don't you have the TCP/IP options when clicking on:
New Game -> Multiplayer -> Network?

(see attachment).

Ok, thanks for the screenshot, I think I see what the problem is.

You downloaded the DOSBox version instead of the windows version. You need the Windows version to play on Gameranger.
I don't have the GOG version, however this post:
http://www.gog.com/forum/heroes_of_might_and_magic_series/heroes_of_might_and_magic_2_gold_windows_version_available_as_an_extra_please_read

makes it clear that a Windows version is available in GOG.

Can you see if you can download and install the windows version from GOG? After that the HEROES2W.exe should be there.
Now I can play with my friend via Hamachi, I still dont know why gameranger istn working, atleast it finds the game now.

But now I have another problem. We tried to connect and we found each other, but when I want to start the game, the game freezes.
Ok now I can start it via Gameranger, but we cant connect with each other. It Shows: waiting for guest, or searching for host.

This could be caused by your firewall. I haven't used Gameranger, but there are these 2 video which seem to offer a solution:

This was very helpful! Thanks for providing me this information! I have been looking for it everywhere!

Best regards,
