I wanted to play this game again and have been annoyed for the past few days due to the fact that it has no frame cap - even though I'm playing on an older system, the frames shoot up into the hundreds and my gpu's fan starts spinning like crazy. Since I can't play like this, I wanted to turn v sync on, but the game doesn't seem to have it. After having tried CCC with no success, i installed RadeonPro. That program has a built in V sync feature. It does force the frames to a comfortable 60, but then the textures become extremely low poly and the game becomes aesthetically unplayable.

If anyone has any kind of workaround for this, i'd very much appreciate it.
MSI AfterBurner

This allows you to have an OSD in-game to see current temps, core usage (how much it's being utilized) and even fan speed. There's another application that follows with it called RivaTurner Statistics Server, that one allows you to limit framerates. It works with both Nvidia and AMD.

I'm usually not one to resurrect ancient threads, but I'm posting a solution here since I faced the same problem today and found a more conclusive fix (below example is for TotE, but should work for the base game as well):

You navigate to C:\Users\<Your_User_Folder>\Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Profiles\<Your_Username> or the equivalent on your OS and edit the user_a2.cfg file (using a plain Notepad is fine).

Find the line with: gfx_vsync = 0 and change the 0 to a 1. Save.

Congrats, you've just enabled V-Sync without using any third party tools.
