Alright, so I bought it earlier today for the sake of nostalgia, but for some reason the game doesn't even wanna start.
I'm running on Windows 10, with a GTX 740, Intel i5-4460 and 16 gigs of RAM.
I've tried compatibility and administrator, and nothing works. When I try to launch the game I get a "Heroes3.exe has stopped working" message, immediately followed by another one.
I hope you guys can give me some insight, I would really love to get it working without having to tamper with the coding, as my knowledge of that is minimal at best.

You can get the HD mod, which should solve this and allow the game to run at higher resolutions. The plus side is the game will also run at higher resolution, meaning no stretching or black bars on HD monitors. The downside is... the game will run at higher resolution, which means if you bought the game for sake of nostalgia, the game won't be exactly as it was when it came out.

HoMM 3 HD does not affect the original game files. This means that you can launch the original version with no changes from the very folder where the HoMM 3 HD was installed. So there is really no harm in trying it out.
