Dear fellow Enrothians,

I am unable to launch the HoMM1 Map Editor in Windows 8.1: when I double-click Editor.exe file, a window with the following message pops up: "EDITOR.EXE has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." The game itself works almost perfectly (it stops reacting to clicking if I click during the intro sequence, but that's a minor issue I don't care about).

I'm using Windows 8.1 with no Internet connection, I don't have any DOSBox version apart from the one installed with the HoMM, and the game is not in the Program Files folder.

I tried everything listed on the Support page, even the unlikely options, but nothing worked. I suspect that changing the settings of the graphic mode could help, but the "Launch Graphic Mode Setup" is connected to the game, not the editor, and I'm not sure if there is any way to change it--and the problem may lie somewhere else anyway.

I've ran out of ideas. Can anyone help?
