Hello!
I have bought Heroes of might and magic - For Blood and Honor, from GOG.com.
The game works fine but there is no in-game music. I think the music make the game much more alive.
I have tried to adjust the sound in the game's option menu but unfortunately it did not help.
Aby idea what to do, please?

Hey,

This is actually the Heroes of Might and Magic forum, which are separate spinoffs of the Might and Magic games, which have their forums here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/might_and_magic_series#1498122855

Anyway, regarding your problem, try the solution offered here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/might_and_magic_series/why_mm7_music_gone_why_music_allways_gone/post2

Fixed it by going into the mm7.ini and changing "PlayMP3=0" to "PlayMP3=1".

OK, I see that was a file added by Grayface's patch.

If you want you can install the patch and see if that helps
https://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/mm#TOC-GrayFace-MM7-Patch-v2.0
(mm7.ini should be in the game directory after installing it).

Another post mentions that the patch fixes the music

Hi again and thanks!

I tried to download it but was unable to unpack the file. Tried different programs to unpack but failed. It says the file is broken. Is it possible to download the file unpacked? Thanks for all help!

It could be an overzealous antivirus. I think someone reported false positives on this.

Anyway, I unpacked the file and uploaded it here:

Hi again and thanks for taking your time trying to help me.

I have downloaded the file and installed it in the HMM7 dictonary.
The MM7.ini file only contains following info:

"
[Install]
PatchLods=1
"

And the file is not allowed to be change. I thought the fie was set to "read only" but it was not.
What should I do next? I think I need a step-by-step-description to make this work. My tecnical skills are very limited. I also tried to contact the author of the file to get some help.

What folder did you install the game in? It looks like a permissions issue that you can't modify it.

Could you right click on the exe and select Run as Admin?

Hi again!

The patch and the game is located at c:/program(x86)/GOG.com/Might and Magic VII
I reinstalled the patch as admin but it did not change anything :-(

OK, that's the problem.

You have to install the game outside c:\program(x86) folder.
Just install it in c:\gog.com for example

Okey, thanks!
Do I have to reinstall the game and the patch or is it enough to move it från that place to the new one?

It might be enough to just move it. You'll have to make sure the shortcuts point to the new location too.

Yes.

This was again caused by installing the game in Programs x86 folder.

In a nutshell the problem is that the game tries to store the save files there, but it doesn't have the priviliges, so Windows "secretly" redirects it to the to another location in the user profile.

I'm not 100% sure where it would be since I installed the game outside of Programs on my machine, but look for it here:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore

Just type the above into the address bar of any window (or press the Windows Key+R and type it there; or press Start and type it in the search box).

Alternatively go to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

Where <username> is your Windows user name.

The Saves folder should be there. It might be in another subfolder Might and Magic 7 or GOG\Might and Magic 7 or similar.

The files have a format of save###.mm7

Copy all the save files to a folder called "Saves" in your new games folder.

IF THERE ARE FILES THERE ALREADY MAKE A BACKUP OF THEM BEFORE OVERWRITING THEM JUST IN CASE!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Now everything is in order, thanks to you!
