This is my newest Window10 computer and I had managed to get Heroes Chronicles working on the last one but the launch starts and gets nowhere. Has anyone worked out a solution to this please? I really love these games.

Are you installing in any variation of Program Files? If so, then try installing in some other directory instead, like C:/GOG Games/[game]

I just did a direct install from my GOG Galaxy and didn't vary where it would go. When I look in my GOG folder the 8 games are there in their separate folders inside the Games folder. They won't respond to : RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR either.
AFAIR, that may be caused by ransomware/cryptor-trojan protection component of Windows 10. Disable it and see if it helps.
If the component is disabled already, enable it, tinker with some of it's settings then disable once more. Sometimes this helps in the similar situations. At least until the next logoff/power cycle.
Latest builds of Win 10 are real pieces of junk-art unfortunately.

P. S. By the way, I hope you have installed legacy DirectX runtimes as well?

Please try GL Wrapper - it should resolve your problem.
Just copy dll in every folder where game executables are located.
