I purchased the complete version on GOG and downloaded the hd mod. when I try to install the hd mod it gives me an error message and I have to click ignore as it pops back up when I hit retry. a hd update file and a hd launcher file it doesn't seem to like being there but says its trying to copy the exact same file to that location. after hitting ignore the 2 files it installs and completes as normal. when I click to run the game it wont launch and I get the following error.


unable to execute file:
C:/GOG game/homm 3 complete/HD_Launcher.exe

any help would be much appreciated thank you!

Are you running the installer as administrator?

I am now, I uninstalled the HD mod and The Complete download and started again. That fixed the duplicate file issue. I then somehow managed to create a full lock on the file in the privacy and access settings which took me half an hour to figure out and undo. I have the HD mod installed and working now, I downloaded the HOTA mod within the HD mod interface and Mcafee has put the Launcher file In quarantine and iv no idea how to get it out of there. so that's were I'm at as of now.

any ideas on how to stop mcafee blocking the launcher file for hota?

Every antivirus, even the overly paranoid and crappy as McAfee, has to have a menu for quarantining and creating exceptions so that they get ignored in future scans. But my advice is to get rid of McAfee altogether and protect yourself with an antivirus that doesn't have as many false positives, such as Malwarebytes.

I tried to install HD Mod (HoMM3 HD 5.0 beta 9) for HOMM 3 (on windows 10 64bits) and the installer does not recognize the installation folder

I launched the installer as an administrator
I resinstalled the game on the default repository
I deactivated the antivirus

Nothing work...need help
