Heroes 3 complete:

The game played fine for months, then I was not able to click to skip the animation to get to the main menu. I uninstalled, downloaded the game again and installed it , and it still gives me the same problem. I can't get to the main menu, because the video just keeps going.

I've tried running it as administrator, but I can't think of anything else to do.

Help is appreciated. Thanks :)

If I recall correctly, this was a problem that existed in the cd version as well. The first time you run the game after an installation, the intro was/is unskippable. I think the solution is to modify the registry key "First Time" found in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\New World Computing\Heroes of Might and Magic® III\1.0 and change it from 1 to 0, but haven't tried it myself.
Alternatively, you could change the "Show Intro" key in the same path from 1 to 0, to disable the intro completely.

P.S. In case you are running a 32-bit OS and not a 64-bit one, remove the "Wow6432Node" from the registry key.

Thanks for your reply. I looked for the registry at the path you specified, but within the Wow6432Node there was no New World Computing subfolder. I was able to find the HOMM3 registries within the GOG games registry at the following path:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GOG.com\GOGHOMM3COMPLETE

However, I didn't see any of the registry edit options that you described.

Any other thoughts? :/

The SOFTWARE\GOG.com registry key contains the keys for the gog installers, not the game themselves. So there won't be anything useful there.
As for why it's not found at the registry key I specified, no idea, so my suggestion would be to search the registry either for "Heroes of", "New World" or even the path you've installed the game at.
I'm attaching a screenshot of my registry which contains the HOMM3 keys, which is from a fresh install.

After searching for the node, I found it at a slightly different location, and your suggestions did the trick. Thanks so much for your help. :)

Under Windows 7 x64, modifying the "First Time" registry key to "0" fixed the issue for me. Thanks.
Hello!

I can't skip the intro at HOMM 3. I already changed in registry "skip intro" to "0". I installed it a few times new, also tried "run as administrator", and so on. But nothing happens. I run out of ideas.

Help is appreciated :) Thank you!

I was running with this problem and today i found the solution:
The GoG Galaxy Heroes 3 Complete use another folder for this option:

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\New World Computing\Heroes of Might and Magic® III\1.0

First Time = 0

I tested here and switching this option make the video be skippable or unskippable.

I confirm that one works (note: did also previous steps so it might be combo).

Seems like the GoG changes this option from time in time, today when i entered the game was unskippable again, changed again to First Time = 0 to make it work.
Maybe i will set a command on Heroes 3 Complete startup to always check and change the variable to never worry with it again.
GOG did not change anything. It is either issue on your system ('security' mess with Registry cause game use HKLM and require admin rights especially if installed not in D/Games/).
In any way even with admin run used on Galaxy and game exe (u can set it for Galaxy only - same effect) - games and gaming clients (Galaxy) should be in X/Games/.

Another one. More close to GOG. This can be default config Galaxy do after first downloading, updating or fixing corrupted game files. This one can be both your system (same security reasons) and Galaxy issue (Galaxy bug literally?). There is nothing to redownload but Galaxy do or just re-apply "install scripts". Or maybe yourself made game verification there. Need some testing, but first - admin run for Galaxy and force game verification (one more time, better twice in a row since Galaxy always redownload something and didn't tell what it is). Make first run after in admin mode. Optionally for second game launch and no installation/updating/etc of games - you can restart Galaxy without admin.
That make game use VirtualStore for settings in Registry but it is just reconfigured it on more time. All next launches should be with one or another config used without issues.

Or you have have differ Windows users (with own VirtualStores, while game itself use general HKLM section).
