I recently bought this game from this website. I used to have the discs where you could create maps. Is there any way you can create them on this downloadable version?

There should be shortcut to map editor in Menu Start>GOG.com>[HoMM]
Alternatively, look for relevant .exe in game folder after installation.

You're welcome :)
maybe do we need homm map thread where we could start making our own maps/scenario and play? i know there are already websites with maps but they might be old or for harcdore players so it would be nice if there would be some players who would make maps.. i could try to create some maps if there would be more volunteers :)
Ambient Orange, this is an excellent idea! It would be best if GoG provided the storage so they could be downloaded from GoG. Whether this would be too expensive or not, I do not know.

Not only HoMM maps of course, but user created maps from all the games that GoG supports.

A lot of the maps I have seen for HoMM 3 seem to be intended for high end players looking for fresh challenge. This is all very well,, but for bears of small brain like me they can be exercises in frustration. Maps that are only mildly challenging but fun and refreshing is what I would like to see. Other players mght have another preference.
okay im starting to create a map, never tried before so i will see for myself how all it goes and if i get hooked up on this(i made a ton of quake3 maps for defrag mod) then i will search for other gog'ers to make more maps. :)
Sounds like a plan. Also you could find a few willing people to test the maps, because sometimes you may overlook something while creating it.
