DL'ed Heroes 3 Complete about three weeks ago, it's been working like a charm for the entire time. This evening, I tried to load a game, and it crashed to desktop. I tried again, same result. Tried to start a new game, another crash. Restarted computer, tried again, same result. Uninstalled game, reinstalled fromg gog (opting to keep all my old saves), tried again, same result. Anyone else had it suddenly start doing this? It crashes about 3/4 of the way through the game load screen (where all the heroes are arrayed in a line, and where the gold squares indicate load progress). I'm confused as to why it would have started doing this all of a sudden after working so well for weeks.

Windows 7 user, AVG antivirus n' such

Thanks for any input/help!

UPDATE:

Still messin' with it. When I run it as an admin, it works fine, but can't find my save games. When I run it regularly, it can find the saves, but crashes. I've tried getting the admin version to recognize the saves, but with no success.

This question / problem has been solved by JMichimage
Assuming you've installed it to default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete\Games), then your saved files are located at C:\Users\JMich\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete\Games where of course instead of JMich you use your own username for the computer you've installed it at. That is due to UAC not allowing a non-administrator user to write to the program files directory, so it uses the LocalStore one instead. Copy your saves from the localstore to the program files folder, then run as administrator and you'll have your files.
It is much better though not to install any game to a UAC controlled folder.
Still not sure why it started crashing, but JMich's advice got me back my saved games, and they're running fine in admin mode. The last autosave was corrupted - maybe that's what set it off.

Thanks, JMich. Appreciate the help.
