Please send save and dxdiag to our tech support -> I remember using portals and Dimension Doors without any trouble (on Vista) so we need those files for diagnosis.

Same here.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04.
An easy way to reproduce the issue is to play the original map "Pandemonium", there is a teleporter just in front of the heroes.

I think the redbook audio needs to be byte-swaped, but I fails to extract the audio tracks from the homm2.gog file...

Most audio seems fine though . It seems weird to me that one or more songs would have the wrong byte order.

You are right, it was just a bad guess as the teleport sound is not redbook audio, but standard raw located inside the xxx.agg file.
I found here : http://www.terrybutler.co.uk/games/heroes-of-might-and-magic-ii/ an AGG file extractor.
Using audacity to read the .82M audio files it appears the teleport sound is correct in the game archive...
hmm it actually has a sound ?
I am surprised about that. (As I know where the static comes from)
If you switch to midi as music source, then I can't hear a sound effect. (midi bypasses the static problem)

Same problem here, using XP.

So what is the source of it ? I personally prefer redbook audio and a wake-your-neighbors sound than midi audio...

if you send me an email I'll send you some build to see if I really found the cause.
my email is the one on dosbox.com/crew.php

Is it a big modification ? If not maybe you can post a diff file from the 0.73 sources.
Or, is the modification in the CVS ?
