Loved Hammerwatch, spent two fun weeks on the couch playing it with friends. Won't buy HoH until I can have a similar kind of experience with it.

Can you give us an estimate of when local co-op will be rolled out? Are we talking weeks or months here?
Thx.

I am also very interested, the wife and I had a blast romping through Hammerwatch and the Sun Temple, and although we both have laptops and we could technically set up a game together, nothing tops couch-coop for sheer fun.

Sadly, from what I could gather from a dev post in the Steam forum (I think), I am afraid it's more a question of "if" than "when". I might still get the game for soloing, but I am definitely not as excited about it as I would be otherwise.

We know people want this feature and we might look into it a bit later, but I can't promise that. Don't buy the game expecting this feature before it's in.
You can do private matches. A small issue is that you both will need the same version (Both have GOG or both have Steam).

Just start a multiplayer game, select private and then the other person will hit SHIFT + TAB, and if you're friends they should be able to click join game on you.

I know its not a true LAN connection but you're getting the exact same thing when doing this.
I would also like to wish for local co-op to be added, as I had a blast playing the first game with 3 of my friends on the couch. I was rather surprised that this wasn't a feature of the sequel as I bought it with local co-op in mind. Of course, that is my fault for not reading the description, but I didn't think a sequel would have features removed compared to the first game. I still very much want to support the developers, but that was kind of a kick in the balls to not have the co-op feature in.

Same here. I bought HoH as soon as it was out, certain that a DRM-free multiplayer option is possible. It's not and I now regret the purchase.
I purchased this based on my experience with the first Hammerwatch and was super disappointed that I could not hang out on the couch and play on the big screen :(
I would be willing to pay for a local co-op "add on".
Jup that games an local coop #vote
Dev has said in steam forums that they will if enough demand for it.. Obviously everyone is demanding it and they have yet to do it mainly cause they just don't care they got their money and now they taking off

And this is strange because how will they ever estimate demand?
How do they communicate with people like me who didn't buy the game simply because I can't play it at home with my kids. It's not like I'm bugging them weekly with this question. I just put this game on my "looks good but don't buy" list and occasionally come back to see if it's had an update.

Who knows how much money they would have had if they just included popular features which they have no reason to exclude in the first place? Come on! This is a co-op type game.
Almost bought the game, but thankfully read the reviews about no local co-op. What a load of crap.
Same boat for me, the game is currently on special and it would have been an instabuy for me if at least one of LAN or couch coop had been implemented, but as things are, it means I can't play with friends when they drop by the house which was a big draw of the original for me (single-player was ok, multi-player was great... I even bought the game for my friends so that they'd have it when I visit).

I will buy the game once I know I can play it with friends at home.

I'll throw my hat into the ring for local multiplayer and direct IP connection without the need of an internet connection, like Hammerwatch had.

A native Linux version would be nice, too, like Hammerwatch had.

It's really sad when sequels have less functionality than their predecessors …
I was going to press the buy button, but the lack of local coop is a deterrent for me. Such a pity that it hasn't been implemented as a fast follow instead of rolling out 3 DLC.
The same for me, My kids love playing hammwerwatch with his father (me) in the sofa. I'm not gonna buy it until this feature is avaliable.

PS: The first game is great.
