Intel MBP. MacOS Sonoma.

I try to launch the game and it tells me the game is damaged and it won't launch. I've tried scanning and repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling, using Galaxy and launching it directly from Applications. Nothing works.

Hello. We are sorry you have troubles playing the game on Mac. Is seems the problem is related to the fact that GOG Galaxy is putting a few additional files in the game installation folder (perhaps to manage update and launch of the game). Since our games are signed and notarized, any modification of the installation folder invalidates the app. By default, macOS prevents running of invalid apps.

As a temporary solution, you can override default macOS security settings:
1. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Privacy and Security in the sidebar.
2. Scroll down to the Security section and find the link to "Hero of the Kingdom" app. (this will be available for about a hour after macOS prevents you from running the game).
3. Click "Open anyway", and verify your identity which will override the macOS blocking of the app. The game will be launched. macOS will remember this override.

Hi, I have this problem also. I followed this solution and installation seems successful but the game still won't launch. Instead I get the message "“Hero of the Kingdom” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash."

Same thing happens with HOTK2. I'm on macOS Sequoia 15.5.

edit: Nevermind, I realized I need to give permission twice, first on installation, then again for launch.

❌ There is a work-around in the official GOG support center at support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/23235640189597 that confused me, because it's not working

✅ The work-around described here in the forum, going to the security settings after attempting to launch the game, does work.

Maybe you can contact GOG to improve that official page. It's misleading. Thank you!
