Is it possible to play the game with Steam users?

Hello !
A friend and I are trying to play through gog and steam together, no success for now.
The games actually see each other but results in fails..
We tried :
- getting through his router changing some settings.
- using mobile phone to get internet.
- using zerotier to play using LAN components.

Maybe we could try parsec but really, that seem sooooooo "not the right thing to do".

It took me time to realise it was not a thing and not a planned feature.
