I'm playing on Linux, release 357, with a generic logitech USB controller. The game doesn't seem to be registering any presses on the start button.

At the very beginning when it says to press enter on keyboard or start on controller to use those controls, it doesn't register the Start press, but pressing 'A' advances with controller input. Once in the game, it says I should press "[L]" to open the menu, and pressing Start does nothing. If I select keyboard controls I can open the menu no problem, but there's the same issue when trying to switch to controller.

It's maybe worth noting that if I trigger the Credits option from the main menu with controller, it draws a white box next to 'skip' instead of the 'esc' it draws when I trigger it with keyboard.

I have the same issue on Windows with a Logitech Dual Action controller.

Logitech seem to be the commonality here, and FWIW, other games that don't handle my gamepad properly are able to be fixed with X360CE to emulate an XBox controller.

That doesn't work here; when I'm emulating an XBox controller, the start button brings up the blank window in the bottom right that you can see in the attached image. There's no way to bring up the inventory on this gamepad that I can see, only KB+M which is inferior IMHO for this type of game.

When I don't emulate an XBox controller and let the game handle it "natively", the start button doesn't do anything at all in-game.

Additionally, when I press the "B button" equivalent to exit this menu in the screenshot, my character does a back-dash, because the button press cancels the menu and is also passed to the character erroneously. This doesn't happen with the emote menu that comes up when I press the select button, which works as expected natively or with XBox controller emulation.

Edit: Also the ESC key brings up that same empty menu window when you press it after the game is started with a controller.

Hi Guys,

I just find out that the game is asking fot the XBOX botton , not the start botton when switching key board from control.

Map the start botton to the XBOX botton on the X360CE emulator.

Open the game and use the keyboard to go to the control settings. hit on Reasign controler and hit star.

It worked form me.

This didn't work for me, unfortunately.
Hi All
Same problem for me, the Logitech F310 controller doesn't work properly, the [L] button to access the inventory is not recognised.
And when you choose the controller to play, the keyboard is not usable, which is annoying for leave the game.

The version on GOG is currently v366.

Hi, I´m having the same problem with my Xbox One Controller. Can´t play the game, only with keyboard
Same issue here on the Linux version, no controller input at all in this game only

(Playing with an Xbox One controller and the xpadneo driver on Kubuntu 20.04)
My controller (XBox One S Wireless) through Bluetooth also can't be used (No button detected when asked for the 'START' button in game). Other apps (SDL2-based for example) do see the controller, I also installed xpadneo and rumble works etc.

Next test: run the game through Steam, which I wanted to avoid.
Fellow Logitech user here with all the same problems.
I have to run it through Steam and use their controller support for it to work.
Inconvenient, but after uncounted years with a third party controller, I'd lie when I'd say, I wouldn't be used to it by now. :')

Same. No reaction on my XBOX gamepad :(
Connected by wire, Kubuntu 22.04. OS sees gamepad and react correct. Can't understand what is wrong.
