If anyone still has this legendary mod for Hearts of Iron 1, could you please upload it somewhere (e.g. Google Drive, Mediafire, etc)?

I believe the last versions were 0.92b (unofficial) and 0.91 (official). I've looked all over the internet but all the old fan sites and download links are dead.

Regarding the Paradox forums, I did actually spend some time trying to find it there but the place is a mess. It has a whole subforum dedicated to the CORE mod, but when you open it, it's completely empty, saying "no threads to display". The board entry leading to that subforum does have a link to the last post inside and strangely enough, that does open a thread about the CORE mod, but all the links in there pointed to the old stonyroad.de fansite which is now dead.

Having browsed through the place again just now, I noticed there indeed is a mod mirror collection thread inside the Mods subforum, but since there are no other threads on that board either, it's easy to miss, thinking it's just another empty section like the rest.

As for what this mod does, it's like a massive expansion that adds more of everything. New units, new tech, improved AI, reworked unit stats, new graphics (unit sprites), new nations, thousands of historical events, tons of historical generals, etc. It's a whole new experience that makes the game a lot more realistic (and harder).

Oh, I forgot about this too. :-) Yeah, it is badly done.
There is menu down the forum pages on paradoxplaza (hidden under thread display options button) where one can set how old threads are to be displayed. It says by default that it displays all posts ever made but in fact one has to set that option because it is set to something shorter.
Yes, the stonyroad website is dead but there are some mirrors posted there so I dl'ed them and reuploaded (as I'd have to link to the forum otherwise and wasn't sure it would work.).

I personally have never tried C.O.R.E. 1 but I had a lot of good experience with C.O.R.E. for HoI2. It was too early in my internet life to be capable to even find it. :-)

Can you send me dm with this link to that page?, I downloaded the Hearts of iron a few days ago and i'm wanting to see if there are an mods to improve the quality.

Something its something atleast with the 0.88, i found out a pague were was a version of 0.9 but it have nxdomain problem wth my ip and cannot download it. the bopworld and the vojska one, quite hard finding these stuff . also any idea in how to install this mod in HoI? i have no idea in how to make it work ;-;

Regarding different versions of CORE:

There are the official CORE releases (last updated around 2010), with CORE 0.90 (base mod) , and CORE 0.91 and 0.92 as patches. You need 0.90, which can be found here:

Installation for v0.90:
1. Download .rar file and extract .exe
2. Follow self-installer prompts
After installing 0.90, you will need to download 0.91 and 0.92 and either use the self-installer (if available, don't remember) or manually overwrite each folder in the mod-CORE directory. Again, 0.90 is stand-alone playable CORE mod, but there was additional work done, which are the patches.


CORE v0.88 (The End of the Beginning) is a standalone mod, direct descendant of the last official Paradox release CORE v0.84 or the so-called HOI Platinum addition. It is essentially a parallel mod, although sharing many similarities with CORE 0.90-0.92. It has new things that 0.90 doesn't have (esp. AI-related), but also misses some newer events added in 0.90 and later. My goal is ultimately to combine the parallel CORE mods into a new CORE v0.94, but I am not there yet.

CORE v0.88 (The End of the Beginning):

Installation for v0.88 is fairly straightforward:
1. Download the .rar file.
2. Extract rar file to your Hearts of Iron 1 game folder
3. For Windows 7 machines, create a new shortcut (i.e. copy an existing HOI1 or HOI1 mod shortcut on your desktop and rename shortcut to say COREv0.88). Right click on shortcut, select Properties/Shortcut tab. In the Target field, edit or add so it looks like the following ".......................\HoI.exe" mod-COREv0.88
You are done and the shortcut should take you directly to v0.88 game from desktop.

I think you can have both v0.88 and v0.90 in the same HOI1 game folder and they play fine, as one runs in mod-COREv0.88 folder, while other is mod-CORE folder. That said, I have separate HOI1 game folder for each under my Paradaox Entertainment directory to be safe.
