Voted with my wallet, but unfortunately, that left GOG out. No Summer of Dove Collector's Edition, no sale. I did contact Support about it, so I let my voice be heard before doing it.
That being said... I played the game a few times and I'm digging it.
- Playthroughs are fairly short, which I love.
- There's a bunch of endings to acquire, some obvious, some not.
- Every storyline/ending I've gotten so far have been weird, which is par for the course. Some have been straight-up dark. I'm looking forward to see where this goes.
- Not sure what the class/stat boosting decisions have to do with the game... I think it kinda slows down the flow and has no obvious benefit, but maybe it has some significance I haven't seen before?
For people on the fence, and have never tried a visual novel game, get it.
It's an absurd (but strangely also kinda serious) take on the genre. The meat of the game is playing around with dialog options/decisions to see what events trigger. New events generally lead to different endings, which the game archives for you. The thing is... endings in this genre are not meant to be standalone. Many games of this genre give you different perspectives of what is truly going on, and each ending is just a puzzle piece. So only when you've beaten it again and again and again, will you get the full picture.
Luckily, these games generally have a fast-forward feature so that you don't have to sit through the same dialogues over and over from playthrough to playthrough. How it's implemented here is that clicking a specific button will FF to the next major scene or decision point.
So think of it as a choose your own adventure, but with an overarching plot that requires seeing all the endings for the story to be complete.
