I'm having trouble with this. When I press Ctrl+Fn+F4+LB the screen will fade to black, but it goes back to the same screen. I've tried closing and reloading the program, running as administrator.. not sure what else to do.
I'm having the same issue, I've tried holding down the function key but it still doesn't work. Is + supposed to be a part of the command? Please help if you can I'd like to finish this game.
Can't get past this bullshit either :(
I tried for like 20 minutes, with Fn, without Fn, left Ctrl, right Ctrl, nothing works :(

Ctrl in game is detected correctly (checked with fight) but not on this screen...

In my case I had to push CTRL+SHIFT+F4 to make it work!
I'm playing on Mac and nothing is working here, tried all the buttons mentioned so far. Need some help, I have a Sierra 10.12.6.
Same thing here. Playing on Mac and trying every possible key to no avail. Could you please help out? It's been a pain as it is to get to the end of Day 4. Now, I just want to finish the game and move on to other stuff...
Had the same issue on Mac, it just sometimes does not register CRTL+FN+F4.

Make sure you have FN pressed, or else you'll just trigger the functions but not F4.

For me, it helped to press the combination auf CRTL+FN+F4 a few times, then LMB, if not successful try again. It would be great to have a feedback to see if the game registered the key combination.
After some more tries: it seems that DOSBox is not picking up on the keystrokes quick enough.

I found that it works reliable, if you have about a second in between keystrokes. So, for example press CRTL - 1 sec wait - press FN - one sec wait - press F4. And then let go of the keys, click. Works 99% of the time.

If I do it all in one flow, it just won't work.

Maybe that helps ;)

Thanks for the tip, but it's still not working :(
When you say the CTRL button, is it the control or the command? Although I tried both and none worked.

It is the control one, not command. It worked for me fine, you may have to do it twice or three times. Just very, very slowly and calmly. It’s hard to describe but once you get the timing down, it works most of the time.

Also check it you need to press fn, if the F1-F12 keys are not enabled without fn (which is the default nowadays, I think). If you don’t, do not press it. Sounds dumb, I know, but it really depends on your settings.
