Are you running it with administrator previlages? Also XP compatibility mode might help. You have PCI soundcard or integrated in mobo?
I am running it with administrator privileges and xp service pack 2 compatability. I have a intergrated Conexant High Definition Audio sound device.
If you were unable to fix this problem , please contact our tech support with dxdiag attached.

I'm afraid there is a problem when running this game through Vista. I installed it on both my desktop and laptops, both run Vista and both generate the same problem. I believe it's something to do with Directx 10 and as yet I have not found any way of avoiding this except to say ctrl+s regularly so you don't lose your gameplay
I have this exact same problem! Except that I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I've already written to tech support and submitted a dxdiag.txt file. For me at least this seems to happen after about 15-30 minutes of play (I've only been playing the Solon Hertiage so far), it just crashes to the desktop with an empty box (but a header saying something about the sound card) and the only option is to just click ok.
What kind of sound card are you using Rogers? I'm using an HTO Striker 7.1
All of my drivers are up to date as well.
I've been doing more poking around with this problem, and I cannot reproduce it in the original Haegemonia, only in The Solon Heritage. I'm going to be doing some experimenting, but it would really be nice if gog.com could help us with this.

Did anyone ever tell you how to fix this? I'm having exactly the same issue. I've been disabling the sound card and the game plays flawlessly but with no sound.
Hello,
that problem is a simple sound-bug with a very big effect, that ends in a total game crash.
If you have Visual Studio installed you might be able to overcome that bug. But I don't know if it works also with the Express-Edition, which is for free.
I had the bug also when I didn't had installed the Studio. But years later, again, with the Studio installed and when the error occurred again, my Studio suddenly started and asked me, if I'd like to debug the error. I choose yes and I where able to continue the game. But this did not work with the add-on.
But I don't know in which language the game is written. But I doubt hat it is c-sharp. Maybe c or c++. So you should try it with the Visual Studio Express Edition for c/c++
I have the same problem . I am running Windows 7 64-bit. The only way i've gotten it to not crash with this error is to:
1. Launch the game.
2. Under Options -> Audio, turn music, sound, and speech down all the way.
3. Exit the game.
4. Launch the game again.
I haven't had a crash since however now I have no sound but I guess it is better than nothing.

Man be cool, don't make mess.
You have Windows 7, which gog is not supporting yet. Calm down and wait a bit. They won't help you in 5 minutes.
They will help you for sure if they find a reason of this crashes.
Guess I'll just bump this saying I have the problem too with windows 7 pro 64 bit and an integrated card.
a possible fix is coming. Be patient :)
Hello everyone. I am here in search of the fix for Haegemonia. The last post in this forum says "A possible fix is comng. Be patient." -dirtbag007. Does anyone have a status update, as that post was in 2010. Thank you.
