GUN arrived a few weeks ago on Steam. As it was only about AU$5, and not available on GOG, I bought it. No more than a few days later, it arrived on GOG, but for about AU$25.

While I'd always prefer to buy from GOG, and have bought again numerous games I already owned, I'd need a very good reason to buy something with this sort of price differential.

Now, I've tried to run my Steam copy, but it's causing me headaches, and I haven't yet been able to force it run in widescreen mode. So, I'd be interested in GOG's version, IF I knew that it would be easier to use.

How about it, GOG? How about telling us why we should buy your version of this game instead of Steam's, especially when yours is so much more expensive?

This widescreen fix works great with my UK retail version of the game. It should also work with the Steam version:

Interesting. Thanks for the link.

I've downloaded the file, but it seems to completely lack any installation instructions. Nor can I find any on the page. Any ideas?

Just copy d3d9.dll and the folder "scripts" to the same directory where GUN's game executeable resides.

(Inside the folder "scripts" you can also find GunWidescreenFix.ini, where you can manually tweak vlaues, but the default values are the recommended ones.)
Yes the price on here is quite unrealistic.
I just bought Gun yesterday, on sale for $4.99, but sadly this game requires an Internet connection to play.
My gaming computer is not connected to the Internet and Gun will not even load. If I do connect the machine to the Internet, Gun loads fine, although not very widescreen compatible.
I'm going to try the widescreeen fix mentioned above.

I did contact GOG support about the Internet connection issue but have not heard back from them yet. I'll post back if/when I hear back from GOG support.

I have the disk version of the game but it too requires an Internet connection. I thought buying the game from GOG would eliminate that, but it didn't.

I heard back from GOG support and the guy did give me a little info on what might have been the problem.
I haven't confirmed for sure yet but it seems that by installing the disk version of the game, with Activision's on-line check, it might have activated Microsoft's Game Explorer, which then tried to check on line for updates and/or news about the game.

The GOG tech guy sent me a link about that stuff and after deleting every registry entry I could find named GameUX, the game finally loaded off-line.

Turns out I probably didn't need the GOG version after all as the disk version would probably now work, but - it was only $4.99. I've pissed away a lot more than that in my 67 years. LOL!
