I just found out that GG X2 accepts the PS2 controller and that in theory it works quite well, which is awesome. Unfortunately there seems to be an inconvenient combination of buttons and directions that opens up a menu during a fight, and it happens all the time when I'm just trying to hit the opponents. I haven't found out yet which combination exactly triggers it - pressing each button on its own works as intented (kick, punch etc,), but in combination with each other or the directional keys, suddenly the menu pops up. It's not the main menu, you can easily exit and resume the fight, but it's still annoying.
Any idea what to do against that? The key configuration menu doesn't seem to say anything about the key or combination used to open up menus during a fight, is there some way to re-configure it?
From the PS2, I'm also used to most games using "X" as Select and "V" (triangle) as "Cancel", while GG2 uses "O" as Select and "X" as Cancel ... I don't suppose I can change that?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
EDIT:
Apparantly the issue with the menu popping up during fights is connected to the Analog Stick. If I turn off Analog (the controller is a DualShock, btw) and use the D-Pad instead, it doesn't occur. But I really prefer using the Analog stick - after all, that's half the fun of playing with a gamepad ...
I guess this wouldn't be a problem if I could just map the keyboard keys to the gamepad e.g. with Xpadder, but there seems to be no way to disable the official gamepad support in the game, so that it won't interfere with the emulation?
