Hello! My game version is 1.0.0.6, but the oldest patch is 1.0.0.6 Hotfix 1 (GOG-16) -> 1.0.0.7 (GOG-17). In other words, I'm guessing I would need the 1.0.0.6 -> 1.0.0.6 Hotfix 1 patch (none of the newer patches work, I've tried), but it doesn't seem to be available. Do I really need to reinstall the whole game? Seems kind of shitty I have to reinstall if I don't play for few months just because older patches disappear for some reason...And what would happen to my saves?

I guess I could also just keep playing the old version if there's nothing huge in the new one.
Latest patch adds new dungeon and some new items so it might be worth your time to install.

Thanks for the info.

I was hoping the newest version would fix some problems I was having. Sometimes I would get infinite loading screen on start, and sometimes the game would freeze so that I could move the cursor but nothing else. It was generally playable though, but happened often enough to be annoying.

Well the game still freezes from time to time on start and crashes when changing location. It has become less frequent though. If it happens regularly then you should use the repair feature. That should help.

I have never experienced a crash or freeze during play except when teleporting. I might not experience any crash or freeze for days and again most happen on start up. Game crashes during play (teleporting) are very rare.
How do I tell exactly which version of the game I have? On the main screen it says 1.0.0.5 but which GOG version does that line up with? I've downloaded the updates when I saw them come out and thought I'd updated regularly but obviously haven't. I have all the following patch/setup files and every damned one gives me a "wrong version can't install" type message when I try it.

patch_grim_dawn_2.3.0.8.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.4.0.9.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.5.0.10.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.6.0.11.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.7.0.12.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.8.0.13.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.9.0.14.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.10.0.15.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.11.0.16.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.12.0.17.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.13.0.18.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.14.0.19.exe
patch_grim_dawn_2.15.0.20.exe
setup_grim_dawn_2.4.0.9.exe
setup_grim_dawn_crucible_2.0.0.1.exe
setup_grim_dawn_crucible_2.1.0.2.exe
setup_grim_dawn_crucible_2.2.0.2.exe
setup_grim_dawn_crucible_2.4.0.3.exe

I'd really prefer not to have to download the main installer that's 2.8GB and do a complete reinstall if I can avoid it.
More information;

2.6.0.11 and lower say they're already installed.

2.7.0.12 tried to install but says there's an error and to consult patch_log.txt. It contains the following;

From what I can tell it doesn't complete the install, rerunning the patch generates the same error each time.

Every higher version (2.8.0.13 onwards) has the message "This patch does not support your version of the game please download a new installer".

I have some version of Crucible installed (not sure how I can tell which) but every version of the Crucible patches I try throws the error "This version of the base game is not supported. Please update your game version with the latest patch".

Skrybe: skip
simplest solution would be using gog galaxy, link your game folder there and run repair.
It would update the game to the latest version.
I'd really rather not use Galaxy. A big part of the attraction of GOG for me is the fact I don't need an app like Steam/Origin/Uplay etc in order to install and play games. Installing Galaxy pretty much defeats that purpose (even if it is less intrusive than the ones I mentioned).

Looks like I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch. Hopefully that might resolve the problem.

I feel your pain. This has happened to me with more than a few games on here in the last year. GOG likes to yank old patches as soon as they're replaced. So you really have to stay on top of the patching situation else you will find yourself re-downloading everything from scratch. This is a real headache for people with slow speeds or low data allowances.

I suspect this is subtle pressure to get people to switch to Galaxy instead, as Galaxy users would not have to deal with this. It would automatically update any game version to the latest version. But this is just speculation on my part.

They have always treated patches this way (always since I joined anyway).

We've been keeping two or three old patches for most games lately rather than just replacing them outright. If you require a much older patch, please let us know and we'll make it available for you :)
I got the same problem..

My current version in 1.0.0.6.. I wanted to update to 1.0.0.8 but i can't..

But the last patch on the page is 1.0.0.7 Hotfix 2..

I just woudn't let me run it... :(

I sent a support request asking for an older patch and they said they don't provide older patches. =\

What do?
