I have the GOG version and recently reinstalled it from the backup files as Galaxy was having issues. Both in that case and now my saves are not changed and therefore I can't progress, lost some progress I had made because of this.

It seems to be because on the desktop the saves on the Documents-My Games-Grim Dawn folder is absolutely refusing to let the game modify it and will shift back to read only and will shift back to it every time I uncheck that, even if I uncheck the whole My Games Folder.

Is there a way to modify the game to use another folder for saves so this will no longer happen?

The issues started three days ago, after that I unchecked the Galaxy cloud save for the game as I saw a suggestion to do it and it didn't work, had to uninstal the game there due to subsequent glitches.

After I installed from the files rather than with Galaxy I copied the whole saves folder I had backed up into the my games save folder.

This usually comes from your Antivirus Software which protects special foldders ... you have to add Grim Dawn as exception.
Also you need to not only untick Cloud Saving in Galaxy, but also in the ingame Options menu.
