=== Revisions ===
These rules are created on 15/02/2016, and will be in effect for everyone playing the game from 25/02/2016. If you do not agree with the rules, please do not play ranked sessions, as these rules apply to everyone who joins and/or starts a ranked multiplayer session in the game.
=== Suggestions ===
The document is open to suggestions and revisions, please make these as separate threads in this forum. The current topic is pinned and locked.
=== Main Principles ===
* To promote fair play. In this game, every player's chances are equal, and the game requires both skill and luck to win. When two or more players gang up on the other player(s), without this being agreed between everyone in the session ahead of the game, this unfairly decreases the chances of one player, improving the chance of other players to win at his/her expense.
* To cherish positive-minded player community. We'd like to see players competing with each other on the (playing) field, and helping each other outside of the sessions. Hate speech, verbal abuse and other forms of aggression have no place in this community.
* To help newcomers make the most of the game. As most chess communities around the world, we're very happy to see new players starting on their journey with our game. We pledge to support new players with advice, encouragement and information as much as well can.
=== RULES ===
1. Players who violate GOG Forum Code of Conduct will be suspended from multiplayer sessions for an initial period of one (1) week. Repeated offenders will be suspended for the period of three (3) months
2. Using a user name / nickname that violates GOG Forum Code of Conduct will, in addition to the consequences listed in section 1 above, also lead to the removal of the player from both Ultimate Ladder and Tournament Ladder for the time of the multiplayer ban, with the rating being reset to the default value (100).
3. Players who practice unfair play (see definition below) may be subject to a protest (see below) by other players.
4. 'Unfair play' is a systematic use of game mechanics by 2 or more players to advance the interests of one player by disadvantaging another player unless this happens in a cooperative/team session as pre-agreed by every session participant. E.g. when in a 3-player 1vs1vs1 session player A systematically stops at a Misfortune spot and chooses player B to choose the most convenient misfortune for player A, so that both A and B can gang up on player C, this is the abuse of the mechanics, and may lead to protest.
5. A protest can be filed by any player competing in a tournament or in a ranked session. A protest is made by creating a thread on this forum, with the description of the actions being protested supported by screenshots and (better!) a video footage of the session, listing the time of the session so that we could check the actual logs.
6. Within 7 days of the date of filing, the protest committee (made of dev team and appointed experienced community members) will issue the ruling: (a) to decline the protest (b) to support the protest. All filings and discussions in this forum are conducted only in the English language, as the process must be transparent and accessible to the whole community. When a protest is supported by the committee, the player whose actions are being protested will receive (a) a warning; or (b) a disqualification from the current tournament, with the score set to DSQ (lowest possible in any ladder); and/or (c) a penalty of -20 rating points; and/or (d) a suspension from multiplayer sessions for a period between one (1) week and three (3) months.
