Whenever I de-select a troop unit, the game plays this loud (and excessively long) bell ringing noise, followed by a jeering crowd.

This plays - EVERY time I de-select them, which is more often than you might think. Especially during combat with other factions.

What's worse is - This particular sound isn't tagged internally as either Effect or Ambiance, meaning the only way to get rid of it is to disable sound in the game completely.

Same thing here. If you pay attention, you may also discover that many sound effects are miss matched (most sound effects connected to actions are all over the place).

Looks to me they messed up either their sound-database shortly before release, since no of the many lets-play-videos I watched before ordering sounded perfectly fine. A shame really, since I actually like most sound effects.

Hope they fix this asap.
Yep. If you go to the inn in any given town and click on the "offer" button, it'll play what seems like a random announcement, like "A new town has joined your empire" or "A military unit has lost its morale".
They dun goofed.

This is fixed in the latest update :)
Yeah I read that on the Steam forums - Impatiently waiting to be able to enable my ingame sound again. :)
