Hello I have been experiencing a problem with Gothic 2. I used the methods mentioned here to set the resolution at 1920x1080 however I now have a white border surrounding some of the screen both in cut scenes and game play. I have tried launching the game in compatibility mode but this just made things worse. I have searched the forums but I cannot seem to find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Install the Windows 8 fullscreen border fix. Remove the compatibility settings you set if you still have them applied.
I have the same problem and i've tried that fix, Didn't work for me

when you use that fix how long does it take to install it, Seems to be less then a minute for me.

Worked for me just like a charm + now I can see enemy health bar while on full screen.

Go to this page & it'll fix you right up. http://www.moddb.com/mods/lhiver-en-edition here's some of the pertinent text:

Installation:

1. Install the game: Gothic II - The Night of the Raven (Gothic II: Gold Edition)
2. Install the following fixes into the game root folder (typically: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Gothic 2 Gold or C:\Program Files (x86)\JoWooD\Gothic II\):

- gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe (http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_278.htm)
- gothic2_playerkit-2.6f.exe (http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_168.htm)
- g2notr-systempack-1.1.exe (http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1340357-Release-Gothic-½-—-SystemPack-(ENG-DEU))

3. Install the L'Hiver mod:

- extract the contents of the package into the game root folder
- overwrite the files when asked (may want to backup Gothic.ini)

4. (Optional step) Download and install DX11 rendering mod (http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1436307-D3D11-Renderer-für-Gothic-2-(alpha)-13)

5. Run the game as Administrator

I've been running the game trouble free on Win10x64 for many months, now--it runs great. But you *have* to install the 3 patches listed under #2 above--because these patches allow the game to run fine on current OSes.

Information on the L'Hiver page I linked for you is the most current available. Some of the info in the stickies here, though, dates several years back and is woefully out of date--some of it is OK, but this is really all you need to get the game up & running. Gog should really address the info in these really old stickies and get rid of the obsolete content.

For instance--these patches are light years ahead of the IronKeep patches, which really aren't that good at all for G2.

This should fix you up!
I fixed my border/hp bar issue with this: I'll put the link in the picture because GOG doesn't allow me to post the link
Download link top right corner, extract in the system folder of gothic2 and run the .bat file.
Worked like a charm <3
Hope this helps (p.s. I used this fix on Gothc2 Classic so i don't know exactly if it works with NOTR.
Cheers! *Keep the Gothic spirit alive!

I tried above file and method, but it would not work: files are timestamped 2015. I kept searching and found this link that had what appears to be a similar files and setup but with earlier timestamp, and this one solved the issue for me.
