I bought Gothic 2 from GOG recently, but have had a weird error causing it to not want to start up on the computer I wish to play it on.
The error message:
C:zMusic_DM.cpp(zCMusicSys_DirectMusic::Init()
) Failed to create loader object
pops up after the screen goes dark and it crashes out instead of initiating. The installer doesn't appear to be corrupted as it runs fine on a older Pentium 4 machine. The machine I'm concerned with is a Toshiba laptop running Vista 64 with a Pentium Dual Core processor with built in Realtek High Definition Audio and a Intel graphics chipset.
I've not had issues with running older games on this machine before now and would appreciate some assistance in dealing with this issue.

I have the same problem as the op. I googled the problem and so far, all i've got is to switch to XP or windows 7. Are there any other option?

There are two suggestions regarding that error in this thread (at the end of the second post, and the third post) :
