I first bought the Gothic series on Steam, and was very anxious to dive right in. But, upon trying to load the first two games, my screen went back to my Steam library page. And when I tried the third game, it simply went to a black screen. I posted about my problem, and some people sent me replies with programs to download and run (one of the suggested link was revealed as a trojan virus). My question for this thread is, if I purchase the Gothic games on GOG, will I still have a problem running the games? Any help or guidance is appreciated!!!

From everything I've heard the third game usually runs fine as it is newer but the first and second are much more hit or miss. There are other topics in this forum that discuss trouble shooting. I found that the first two work on one of my windows 10 machines but not the other.
In other words, maybe. I'd say review the other topics to see if any of their hints can help you.

Go here and install Spine:

https://clockwork-origins.com/spine/

Spine makes adding features and playing different mods easy as pie. Make sure you have the system pack, which includes the player pack, to allow people to play Gothic on modern systems. I'd also recommend the 4GB patch.
Everything else is up to you.
