I've been messing around with transform spells, killing all monsters and bandit I see around for quick XP but then I didn't loot the corpses from the bandits in that bridge next to the farm and so the corpses disappeared after my rampage, I can't make any progress on the quest. what do i do? I can't just load a earlier save since I'm far through the game.

I forgot about this thread, already solved it though as i forgot that i had a bandit's rapier in my inventory and showed it to a certain upper quarter citizen but thanks helpo1, hope this also helps anyone who walked across this problem as well.

Even though you've probably resolved the problem by now...

There are many bandits who wield this specific kind of sword, and there is also a whole lot of them just being out there as regular items (lying on the ground, carts and so on), so there is no way all of them would just disappear. As with a lot of common problems here, my advice would be to check Mondgesaenge - in your case, going to Maps -> Area: Land of Khorinis -> Topics: Weapons -> "One-Handed Weapons (Bandit's rapier)" (the dark-blue sword). You only need one (or two) of them for the quest (depending on how exactly you want to complete it).

Another, although not exactly "legal" way would be to insert the sword to the game through Marvin (its code is "ItMw_Addon_BanditTrader").

Interesing; I thought they only made a trail. Must have used that one or two (as I did pick them up) without realizing it. Could be important the next time I play the game; thanks.

Some of them do indeed form a trail from Bengar's farm to one of their camps, and I believe Bengar himself even mentions that the bandits had so many weapons that they were falling from their carts [*]. They can be found in other places as well, but it is, quite logically, still usually near their camps or along the path to them.

[*] I haven't played G2 in a while, but I vaguely remember something along the lines of:
H: "Were they carrying weapons?"
B: "... what? Ever seen bandits without weapons?"
H: "No, I mean a ton of them."
B: "Oh, right. Yup. (...)".
