Hi,

i figured out how to run my old Gothic 2 CD version (1.28 without Night of the Raven add-on) with the updated engine of the Gothic 2 GOG version (Gothic 2 Gold from GOG with Night of the Raven add-on). I did this on Windows 7.

Why?

- Streaming: You want to play/stream Gothic 2 vanilla (without NotR), but you can't stream the old CD version (on Discord or with OBS for example) without graphics glitches or black screen. With the GOG version you can.
- Cutscenes: If you want to play Gothic 2 vanilla, but your cutscenes are not working, this could probably help (on my CD version the intro didn't work, with the GOG version it did).

What do you need?

- Your Gothic 2 CD copy
- Gothic 2 Gold from GOG

How?

1. Install your Gothic 2 CD version. (If you got problems with the installation, use the Gothic2-Setup.bat script that you can find on other Gothic 2 Forums. I got mine from the World Of Gothic forum: www.forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/57364-Installprobleme?p=1044064#post1044064 )

2. Install Gothic 2 Gold from GOG (in a seperate folder than step 1.)

3. Copy all files from the System folder of the GOG version, and paste them into the System folder of your CD version, but DON'T OVERRIDE any already existing files.

Additional tips for streaming on Discord:

The main problem is that it is very hard to tab back to desktop while Gothic 2 is running. To deal with this add Gothic 2 in the "Game Activity" settings. Then create a hotkey to start streaming ("Hotkey" settings). Discord can now detect if the game is running, and you can immediately start streaming while you are in-game. Don't try to tab out while your stream is running or Gothic will crash.
