It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Title says all.

At first, .ini tweaks were working. I was able to disable video scaling such that videos were centered at a smaller size. Suddenly it stopped working. No idea why.

I uninstalled, deleted the folder, reinstalled, and it's still ignoring the .ini file. Somehow, the game remembered my resolution and custom controls, even though I had deleted the entire folder.

WTF else to do? I looked through the registry, and there are a few dozen nonsense entries, but I don't see anything that could be affecting it. Ideas, short of smashing my hard drive?
PROBLEM SOLVED! WEIRD AS FORK, man. Why hasn't anyone else had this problem? Why did it work at first? No idea times two.

the file you need to mess with is not the one in the gothic folder, but the one in the Users\(yourname)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GOG.com\Gothic 2 Gold\system folder. Darn compatibility stuff.

NOTE:

You only need to do this if you run the game without Administrator rights. The VirtualStore is a "safe" method of windows redirecting file operations in a UAC protected folder.

To bypass this limitation you can do the following:

A) Run the game as administrator (Right Click, Properties, Compatibility, Check "Run this Program as Administrator")

B) Give your user account Full Read/Write rights to the game folder [advanced users only]

C) Install the game to a location other than Program Files

D) Disable UAC [advanced and competent users only]

Either one of those 4 options will fix this issue without having to fool w/ the VirtualStore.
