This has probably been written times and times again, but me and a friend of mine have been working on a centralized Gothic II database for quite some time.

A piece from it is the chests location and how to open them.

I decided to share that piece of info here. Who knows? Maybe it will be of some use to someone.

Have you seen the Gothic II Database and Gothic II Addon Database? This covers the same sort of information so I'm sure it would be very useful for what you're doing.

Thank you reminding me! I indeed knew about that website - it's owners are the guys who worked on Gothic III Community Patch if I am not mistaken - but I haven't visited it in years!

This definitely makes things way more smooth for us and saves us a lot of work.
