Hi all. I just started playing Gothic today and I have a feeling this is a question that has been asked a lot.

Mud....wow, super annoying and I want to get rid of him. So I took him out of the camp and punched him once or twice and he ran away like a cartoon character on fire. I saw him run through the castle gates past Thorus, and at one point he ran out and ran back in.

It looked a little weird, so I want to make sure I didn't break anything before continuing. He didn't fall to the ground like I've heard usually happens when you beat up someone, he just started running and I imagine even now, with the game closed, he's still running around.

So is this normal, or what should I do to get rid of him?

Thanks,
John

::sigh:: Okay, after a few more minutes he came back out and stood in front of me. I made the mistake of speaking to him, thinking I could finally end it, but he just joined me again. So then I led him outside again, punched him, and this time he ran *away* from the camp, so I have no idea where he went or if he will come back.

I guess I don't really care, as long as this won't break the game.

Edit 2: I've also noticed that sometimes the NPCs I'm talking to will start answering my questions before my character is done speaking, causing them to talk over each other. Every time this has happened, I think it was with Mud near me. I don't know if he's the cause, but he's definitely got to go.

He'll be back. :)

Have him follow you into the woods with some beasts - I think that's what I did when he kept whining.

LOL. I had to hit him a few more times. Last I saw, he was back in his hut standing on a table! :) Hopefully he stays there, or I may have to practice with my sword.
This thread made me laugh.

I love it when Mud asks you if you're looking for a nice quiet place where the two of you can sit and talk.

I actually did kill him once, since he got on my nerves so much (attack again while he's lying on the ground). In full sight of Thorus, no less (I guess he really does not have any friends in the camp). But I felt bad and reloaded. He's mostly going about his own business now, but he better beware, my patience has run thin...

The '"talking over one another" the OP mentions only ever happened to me with Mud napping at my heels, so I figured it's him sort of "interrupting" the normal course of conversation ;)
It stopped once I lost him in the crowd somewhere.
