I recently bought Gothic 3 but can't get it to run. When I open the game the screen turns black, and if I Alt Tab out I get a message reading 'Compile shader material cache, this may take several minutes!!! Press button to start.' When I press OK the message dissapears and nothing happens. I then have to force close the game.

I know somebody else previously posted on the GOG forums with this problem, and I have tried all of the suggested fixes, namely installing the game to a different file location than Program Files and installing the community patch. Neither of these have fixed the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am using Windows 7 and have never had this problem before when using GOG.

Solved. I just left it on the black screen for twenty minutes and it finally loaded the game. Weird. Actually some people had recommended this but I didn't read all the way down the list of previous posts earlier, so missed the advice. Sorry if I wasted anyone's time.
