I'm trying to change some monster stats in this game, and I already know where to find these values and how to edit them. But once I use "re-parse scripts" in GothicStarter, the game gets German subtitles. The edits that I made do work though.

Any workaround for this?

Disclaimer: I have never modded vanilla G2 itself, only other mods for G2 (using GS v3.15 and Gothic VDFS), but I'm not aware of any real difference stemming from that.

Where did you get the scripts from? Aren't they perchance German themselves?

As far as I know, there is no way to compile and insert only some of the script files (or it is too complicated and/or possibly unstable). You can only compile the scripts as a whole. Therefore, you have to edit the very same version of the game you would later like to play.

The respective timestamps of the files compiled decide which are going to be applied first and which on top of them. Effectively, if you compiled DE scripts yourself (= later-generated files) and put them inside your original EN game (= earlier-generated files), the German ones rewrite every single file they have in common with the EN version. If you want to edit the EN/NL/(whatever) version, you have to obtain its scripts and modify them directly.

Thank you for your help. You were right, I had the german script files. I finally found working English script files. They are called the Gothic II Gold: Original English Scripts (Final Revision)

These work flawlessly :)
