Just a thread to gripe about Greg stealing my potential XP by suddenly porting into the middle of Dexter's bandits and being invincible and stealing my kills!

I know it's not a big deal but since XP is pretty limited and there are still a ton of guys who can beat the crap out of me it really hurts when this douchebag who I've been helping the whole game and have gotten nothing in return just shows up to inconvenience me further... T_T

I don't think there any need to help him although he does give a fair amount of XP with success of tasks. Not sure which would be more.
On one of the local Gothic forums, this has been discussed as a part of a gameplay with max XP (in Czech).
(from here)
An important factor can be killing all Dexter's bandits (you'll climb the house and cast, for example, fire storm), but very probably Greg will mess with you and he's immortal. Though, on a right place you can kill almost all bandits in this location without hitting Greg. Then you have to be quick and kill Dexter before Greg does. Sometimes, bandits in the other tower will jump down the cliff and you'll lose a lot of XP. Especially one of them is for 400 XP.

Take a look at this.

Only just got to watching this.

Very interesting! One again it's good to know that there are ways of handling situations I haven't even thought of :D
Easiest solution - just buy a Storm or Fire Rain scroll in Khorinis, either from Zuris or the guy in the upper quarter.

Step into the middle of the bandit camp, cast the spell - everyone dies. Then just go clear the side tower. Make sure Greg actually spawns. He is set to spawn if Dexter enters combat. But it sometimes happens that if Dexter is hit and instantly killed by the initial spell cast, that the trigger does not register.

Easiest way to get all the XP and the scrolls cost just a couple hundred gold.

i ran into that problem also, but i think that he teleports in once YOU attack any of the bandits. What i think i did was climb up on a ledge near the bridge where i was going to shoot the bandits with my bow. I then used a summons and that drew the attention causing the bandits to all come over to where i was at, then i started shooting them.

Greg appears, but since i had already drawn the bandits away from his spawn spot, he just stood there with no targets while i killed all the bandits away from him. Once they were dead there was still Dexter in the house so i saved, and went in to fight him with Greg until i actually got the killing blow out of the fight. SO initially i was losing exp from the bandits to Greg, but in testing out ways to handle the situation i stumbled over the summons way to kill stuff. I think i simply used a skeletal goblin to draw all the bandits over to the bridge area for me to kill while Greg spawned further in the back with no foes around him to steal exp from.
