Hello,

I'm having big problems with this game that I would love to play.

First is the sound problems: I start to get weird, loud kind of static sound when playing the game. This happens mostly when it's raining or when i'm moving from indoors to outdoors or vise versa.

Second is the movement. I'm trying to play a character who focuses on bows, but sometimes when enemies get close to me I get completely stuck. I can turn around maybe 10 degrees and then it resets me to my old position, I cannot move to any direction.

Last problem (I hope) is that I cannot alt tab out of the game. I have tried to make the game run in windowed mode to be able to alt tab but failed. I have edited the line to zStartupWindowed=1 Gothic.ini, I have installed the fullscreen fixes and I have installed the PlayerKit and enabled the option "Window Mode" in the launcher. None of these attempts have done the trick.

Mods and resources that I have installed: Gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0, Gothic_1-2_Fullscreen_fixes, PlayerKit, g2notr-systempack-1.1, D3D11 renderer and Vurt's improved textures.

Note that I had these problems before installing any of the mods, resources or fixes

Lastly some information of my computer and the stuff I have installed, if they matter:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Processor: Intel i5-4570 @ 3.20GHz
Graphics card: Nvidia geforce gtx 770

I'd be one happy camper if any one had a way to fix these problems. They might not sound game breaking, but they are annoying and take away a big part of the enjoyment of playing this game
Regarding the Sound Issue, there are some Audio Options, if I recall. Maybe try messing with them?

Regarding the bows: I believe what you are dealing with is the "unique" combat mechanic of Gothic, which locks-on to an opponent. You sort of circle them while in combat. It makes more sense when using melee weapons. Bows work best from a distance. Once the enemy closes in, you really need to switch to a melee weapon. Combat in this game is toe-to-toe, for the most part.

Can't really help you with the Alt + Tab (not that I helped much on the other two, lol). It is a great game, however.

Good Luck.

Jupe: Last problem (I hope) is that I cannot alt tab out of the game.
Go to Programs and Features and remove the "GOG.com Gothic 2" entry. Alt+Tab will now work.

Removing the GOG.com fixes will re-introduce a window border when in fullscreen mode (to fix this again use Gothic ½ — SystemPack--this won't reintroduce the Alt+Tab blocking).

I just installed the newest version of Gothic2 and that one does not install the gogfix separately, so there is no way to remove it. You would have to have the 2.0.0.8 installer version instead.
Since this is still an (unsolved) issue: DOes anybody have an Idea on how to fix it? There's no GoG.com Gothic2 in the Programs and Features-List anymore, and I already tried changing the Gothic.ini and playing the game via Gothic.exe instead of the stater (or GoG Galaxy or anything else), didn't get it to work. Can't use the alt+tab or anything else (not even ctrl+shift+esc). So basically, everytime i want to look something up i gotta end the game, or else my PC will just stop "working" since i can't use my function-keys while G2 is active.
About alt-tab: you can remove the Gothic 2 fix via the 32-bit Compatibility Administrator (listed under Installed Databases), which is a part of Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (more recent versions of which may only be available as part of the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit).

Be aware though that it contains also a ForceSimpleWindow fix to remove the window borders in full screen, which you'll either have to re-add manually in a new database or find another alternative to fix it. If you make a new database, make sure you save it and install it (through the right click menu) to make it permanent.
