I'm on vista 64 bit, I click the icon, the process appears in the task manager but nothing happens. I've tried everything I've found on the forums, killing rundll32.exe, closing chrome, opening 2 and doing stuff but nothing's worked. Any ideas?

This worked for me for Vista 32 bit but I don't know if it will work for Vista 64
Re-install the game to somewhere other than program files (c:\gothic 2 for example)
Create a shortcut and set the compatibility settings to WinXP SP 2 also disable desktop composition and run as administrator.
That hasn't worked, unfortunately, and more ideas?
Okay first try changing the .ini file - you'll find it in the gothic folder under system. It's called gothic2.ini. You can edit this with notepad.

Change playLogoVideos=1 to playLogoVideos=0.
This disables the intro video which might let the game start.

If that doesn't work you could also try installing some patches - I don't know if GOG's version has these or not but it might be worth a try.

If any of this actually lets the game start but you still have problems with any of the cut scenes try changing scaleVideos=1 to scaleVideos=0 in the .ini file
It appears to be loading now, thanks soooooo much :D

For anyone else this happens to, open up chrome, load up the game twice, leave it until the circle round the cursor goes away then ctrl alt del end the process rundll32.exe. Then it loaded for me

I had the same problem, did what you said (killed the rundll.32.exe), and it's working now!
This thread saved me :)
